Unable to start Datastage Engine, getting permission denied error even though I am root and the owner. What's wrong?

As mentioned before.. I am unable to start Datastage on one the second node. Any attempt to start it, or execute any script file to reset file permissions results in a permission denied error but I'm already the owner of the directory and files.. but the Engine status remains at stopped:

    bin/uv -admin -start

    /bin/sh: /opt/IBM/InformationServer/Server/DSEngine/sample/ds.rc: Permission denied

Any idea what I need to do to fix this? I googled this error already, and IBM suggested I compare file permissions with what they listed and what's on the server but the permissions, even ownership, is identical, but clearly something is different..

Can you paste permissions for /opt from both the servers?

Which Linux OS you have on both the server? i.e. RHEL 6.x etc.

I hope /opt is not a common mount point used by 1st server.
