    Hi,

    Without seeing the specifics I assume that this AVI solution calls out to an external solution from within QualityStage / DataStage. 

    How is this enabled when users are within an IBM Managed on the Cloud solution which has allows no external calls from the software in the cloud solution?

    Hi Benjamin..

    Actually NO.. It doesn't make a call to an external service..  There are files that you can download and place on the server and those are updated quarterly to make sure you have updated address files.  It is a call to those files that are executed.

    Hi Benjamin,

    QualityStage Address Verification Interface (QS-AVI for short) is an on-prem solution today working with the Information Server suite.  AVI is an add-on to QualityStage and consists of two pieces:  1) the AVI 'Interface' think of this as the API/engine and the AVI stage.  This is a perpetual software license sold in both prod and non-prod, 2) a 1 year fixed term license to one or more countries, regions or for world wide address reference data.  Example:  North America contains the U.S. and Canada.  Other regions include: South America, Western Europe, etc.  This 'Data' piece grants the right to use the 'Data' for 1 year after which time you must either repurchase it for the next year or uninstall it.  Updates to the 'Data' are provided quarterly.

    The 'Data' is downloaded from IBM Passport Advantage and placed in a location that is accessible by QualityStage, by the AVI stage.  This is a long way of saying, the solution is totally on-prem, it does not require any external calls in order to process the addresses.  This completely avoids any security/privacy concern of sending address information outside of the firewall for external processing.  

    Note:  We are working to make QualityStage AVI available on the CP4D DataStage Enterprise Plus cartridge (which contains QualityStage) as early as Q2-2021.  Feel free to reach out to me directly or ask here if you have additional questions.
