Data Architect tool, connect using Generic JDBC fails-driver class not found

    Posted 28 days ago

    Hello,

I am trying to connect InfoSphere Data Architect installed in my local computer using Database Connection to an application database that is not listed in the data base manager in the DA tool, thus I chose to use Generic JDBC. I have downloaded the correct version of database's JDBC driver JAR files and pointed DA tool to it. However, when I try to test the connection I get the following error message -

I do have the driver added to the JAR list. Please see below.

I also tried adding the Class Name in the "Optional" tab under "Properties" box, that didn't work either.

Do we have to place the JAR files to any specific location in the install directory of the Data Architect? Though I am trying to connect to a specific database, my question really is regarding configuring the Generic JDBC connection to any database.

Any insights in this will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I realized when this question got posted that it did not include the screen shot of the error message. The error message I get above is -

"The driver class was not found in the specified drivar JAR/.zip file. Please update the JAR list in the dirver definition".
