Meet Ralf Martin who is a Principal Consultant at infologistix GmbH, and this is his first year as an IBM Champion! He has more than 16 years of experience in Data Integration consulting and has a deep passion for IBM's DataStage product, particularly the legacy version (11.7) and the new one on CP4D; “DataStage, both the legacy version (11.7) which is still commonly in use and the new one on CP4D where I am supporting IBM with testing and design choices. Graphical data integration tools make live easier compared to writing the code manually, virtually doing the documentation while you develop, you discover this especially when editing the processes developed by someone else”
Ralf is an advocate for DataStage in various capacities. He enjoys sharing his knowledge through blogs, community engagement, and speaking engagements. He is actively involved in the German Speaking DataStage User Group and is working towards bringing the group to the IBM TechXchange Community. His primary motivation for giving back to the technology community is self-interest: by supporting IBM in improving DataStage, he ensures its continued presence in the market and can maintain his livelihood.
In the past, Ralf has had the opportunity to work with other tools, but he prefers IBM DataStage due to its architecture, robust features and ease of use. One of his proudest accomplishments is contributing to the development of a DataStage extension for CP4D, which has received positive feedback from users.
If Ralf were not working in technology, he would likely pursue a career as a carpenter or joiner, given his talent for woodworking and carving! Ralf's involvement with IBM stems from his desire to improve DaaS and DataStage for CP4D, making it a more user-friendly and productive tool. He was granted the IBM Champion title in recognition of his continuous support for IBM in this endeavor.
