IBM offers a comprehensive suite of tools aimed at optimizing the performance of high-availability clusters. While resources such as calculators, simulators, and documentation provide valuable insights into expected cluster performance, there is a scarcity of resources that offer actual numerical differences. As High Availability and Disaster Recovery (HADR) on AWS gain global momentum, this presentation focuses on conducting an in-depth analysis of how synchronization modes, crucial for shaping data protection strategies, impact HADR systems on the cloud. The emphasis is on providing attendees with numeric data, leveraging db2mon. During the presentation, I will explore the diverse effects of HADR synchronization modes on cluster performance, when and why different sync modes should be used and whether HADR on AWS behaves differently from the on-premise. Attendees will gain practical insights to guide them in selecting the optimal synchronization mode for their specific needs.
