zData Query Accelerator: Is it a Thing?

It's commonly known as IDAA, The IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator is the real name, but that name limits the mind to how it can be utilized by companies for non-Db2 data loaded into Accelerator Only Tables. This session will focus on use cases that demonstrate to companies how they can leverage IDAA (or my preferred name ZQA) to reduce costs, improve employee productivity, and stop moving data off the platform to something link Splunk. The possibilities are only limited by your imagination.

Greg Debo spent 34 years at State Farm focused on mainframe data, including being a DBA for IMS and Db2, Product Support for Db2, Guardium and IDAA, and part of the Mainframe Architecture Team which helped set direction for how to modernize our use of the platform.  He has since joined TeamSWAMI as a Principal Consultant focused on helping customers with Mainframe Modernization strategy.

Synchronizing Progress: IBM DB2 Tools Portfolio Support for Db2 13 on z/OS

When a new version of Db2 is released, it's essential that its corresponding tools can support and exploit its new and updated features. Join us as we delve into the latest in Db2 V13 and discuss how Db2 Tools capitalize on these new features. We'll also examine the recent enhancements made to Db2 Tools for both Db2 V12 and V13. To cap it off, we'll explore how we're enabling AIOps and Observability in Db2 Tools.

Bob Bersano began his career as a mainframe software developer back in 1986 and has worked with IBM Db2 since version 2.1. Bob has designed and developed many different enterprise Db2 tools handling data migration; log analysis; security and backup and recovery. Bob joined Rocket Software in 1995 as a Senior Software developer to design and code a new database backup and recovery product that would exploit fast replication technology. Bob is currently a Senior Solutions Advisor; working with Db2 customers worldwide. He is based in Chicago and is a graduate of the University of St. Francis with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science.

Tom Crocker is a Senior Solution Advisor at Rocket Software working with IBM Db2 for z/OS Tools. Before joining Rocket Software Tom worked for IBM BetaWorks organisation, specialising in Db2 for z/OS and its associated tooling, and recently completed the Db2 12 Early Support Program. Prior to this Tom worked for 14 years in IBM Software Group in the UK, providing pre-sales support for Db2 Engine, Db2 Tooling and Business Analytics. Tom has over 30 years experience in Data Management and has experience in the insurance, banking and retail industries. He has authored several Redbooks covering Db2 Administration and Db2 tooling.

Monitoring your distributed workload for Db2 for z/OS

Distributed workload is becoming more prevalent, and for many customers it is a significant part of the overall Db2 for z/OS workload. In this session we will explore the various options available with Db2 for z/OS to understand and monitor your distributed workload. Our focus is on the system side to help you protect your Db2 system.

This introduced all the new and varied ways of seeing from where remote SQL is coming from and a nice set of ways to check if your drivers are up to date.

Jørn Thyssen joined Rocket in 2017 as a Solutions Advisor specializing in Db2 tools bringing in 16 years of experience working with IBM z technology and Db2 for z/OS. He specializes in mainframe modernization, Db2 administration, and Db2 performance, supporting customers across the world. As a Solutions Advisor he works with customers from their initial interest in a solution all the way to a successful deployment and beyond. He also helps R&D with designing and validating innovative solutions for modernization, hybrid cloud, and AI.

Db2 for z/OS On Ramp to DevOps

Despite its perceived complexity, Db2 for z/OS can indeed become an integral part of your enterprise's DevOps processes. This session will delve into the necessary changes and crucial principles that will enable Db2 for z/OS to participate effectively in your enterprise's innovation deliveries. While we will use IBM's Db2 DevOps Experience as an illustrative example, the principles discussed can be broadly applied to other offerings or custom solutions.

Paul Bartak, Distinguished Engineer at Rocket Software, IBM Champion
