This session will cover the self-service migration tool used to upgrade Db2 Warehouse on Cloud from Gen 2 to Gen 3, the rollout strategy for customer access to the tool, and the benefits of the Gen 3 platform. The migration tool simplifies the process by enabling seamless transitions of configurations, data, and workloads to the new infrastructure. Key steps include provisioning a duplicate instance, restoring data from backups, and validating the system before completing the final upgrade.
We will also explore the benefits of Gen 3, including 4x better query performance thanks to a proprietary caching layer and 34x lower storage costs with the introduction of object storage. The session will include a phased rollout plan, detailing when and how customers can access the tool to ensure a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
