A Window into Db2 on Cloud
DB2 has multiple SaaS offerings that run on IBM Cloud and other Cloud Platforms. This session will primarily focus on Db2 on Cloud and will introduce product features and information about the infrastructure used to build this service covering things like HA, network, storage, and Kubernetes usage. This will be interesting to people who want to learn about Db2 on Cloud, how it is built, and how it leverages Db2 Capabilities to provide a Highly Available, Elastic environment which customers can use without having to worry about many management or administrative headaches.
Speaker Bio: Andrew Hilden – IBM
Chief Architect of Db2 on Cloud and the Cloud Services Architect for Watson Query. He is involved extensively in the development and architecture of several data-oriented cloud services at IBM. In the past 25 years he has also worked in development, architectural and leadership roles in Db2 in areas like appliances, Db2 pureScale and install and up and running and he has loved almost every minute of it. Outside of the office he enjoys spending time with his wife and kids and enjoys trying to fix and build things.
Extending Db2’s Reach to Other Data and Data Formats
Data of interest no longer resides only in the data warehouse. Often access to data is desired from other databases, filesystems, and now commonly object storage as the basis for the emerging lake house architecture. This presentation will look at the various technologies available in Db2 to access data residing outside the database including how Db2 can integrate with the Data Lake House.
Speaker Bio: Mike Springgay - IBM
Db2 Warehouse Architect focused on the common engine components. Prior to that he was responsible for extending Db2's SQL compatibility features, routine infrastructure, and client server connectivity.
Let’s Explore the Latest and Greatest of Data Management Console (DMC)
Data Management Console is now loaded with all the functionality you need, to monitor hundreds of databases, manage objects, tune SQLs or Workloads, receive alerts, build, or run queries, schedule jobs or a sequence of jobs to run scripts, manage roles/privileges/authorizations, monitor replication sets and so on. For Db2 on Cloud and Warehouse on Cloud, the console provides a powerful web interface to allow you to scale storage/compute resources, manage disaster recovery, backup/restore, clone, or to schedule upgrades. Let's explore the latest and greatest.
