Yep, and it's by design, because "service account".

For us non-service-accounts, we'll have to make our nature known to the system ;)

Hmmm ... so when setting up passwordless ssh for informix ... one is meant to do this off root?? Or where?? (i.e. /.ssh directory) ... or ... if no $HOME then ... how??

    Hope you're good Andreas ;)

If you need to set up a home directory for user informix, you can always do that after the server has created the user id:

    sudo usermod --home /home/informix informix

(Let's see if a reply to group works ...)

.rhosts too for HDR / RSS

But hey, I wonder how many installations run with no $HOME for informix.

    No worries ...

.rhosts, .... for HDR/RSS ... sooo last century

    Only /etc/hosts.equiv is worse.

But hey, who besides us would even still know about those.

Thanks for the reply Andreas ... are you saying there is a better / more current approach to .rhosts (and .ssh)?

i.e. If I let the installer create informix with no $HOME, then what is the approach for HDR / RSS for the trust?

    Informix-only level trust through REMOTE_SERVER_CFG and/or REMOTE_USERS_CFG, since early 11.70...
