How can I retrieve System-Level metrics from IDAA v7 on Z

  • 1.  How can I retrieve System-Level metrics from IDAA v7 on Z

    Hello,

We currently have IDAA v7 on Z.  Recently, one of our operations budget managers asked some questions regarding metrics.  I cannot answer them, but was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.  Questions that were asked are:

    1.  Is there any way for us to retrieve performance metrics?  Examples of these would be Disk Usage, Usage by ID, etc.?
    2.  Are there any tools available that would allow a dashboard-type "window" into IDAA on Z?  Would the Db2 Admin Foundation be a possible solution?

Any information you can point me to would be appreciated.  Thanks.

    Hello George,
there are multiple interfaces/tools available to monitor Accelerator resources and usage.

    • This technote focuses on how to monitor resource usage such as IFL, memory and storage usage: https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/6416467
    • The DISPLAY ACCEL command provides you a subset of available monitoring/performance metrics, e.g. what some Accelerator users are doing is to execute this command regularly, parse/store the output to get capacity/usage information over time.
    • The complete set of monitoring/performance metrics is available in SMF data (e.g. IFCID2 (Statistics), IFCID3 (Accounting)). Tools such as Omegamon Performance Expert include this data in reports or real time monitoring displays. See a list of available metrics here in the Omegamon documentation: https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/om-db2-pe/5.4.0?topic=overview-accelerator-data-version-4-later
    • In Data Studio there are some utilization graphs. If you click the Monitor button for a selected Accelerator then you get System Utilization, Finished Tasks, Current Tasks, Disk Usage graphs.
Please let me know if this information is helpful for you. If you have more specific/detailed questions about monitoring I will be happy to help.

    Best regards
