  • 1.  Sterling connect:Direct JRE "Could not load JVM.DLL"

Two questions and hoping this is the right community to post:

We connect to a remote IBM mainframe using a DOS-based Sterling Connect:Direct  (CDFTP.exe) -- this is admittedly old software, version 1.0.07 '2004.
This DOS-based client uses "cmd" files and relies on Java JRE to run.

Q1:  We have been forced to switch to a new 32-bit JRE and am getting an error:  "Could not load JVM.dll' .
The DLL's directory is on the Windows path  (...bin\server)
The java_home environment variable is correct.

Assistance on this error is welcomed.  I feel old for even asking this question.

Q2:  Is there an upgrade to this program?  For batch reasons, I'd like to stay with the command-line interface and have no need for a GUI front-end.  We are just a client for the (ftp/NDM file-transfer) and we do not own the server we are connecting to.

    Thank you.

    T.

    Hi Tim,

CDFTP+ 1.0.xx is an ancient version that went EOS back in 2009! It is not even an IBM version (formerly Sterling Commerce) at all.

The current IBM version of CDFTP+ is 1.3.X. It is available on IBM Fix Central and bundles its own IBM JRE.
You might want to checkout the Release Notes or documentation.

Well, that is no surprise!  We got our money's worth, didn't we?  This thing has been running since 2004.   I'll contact sales.
Is the IBM  Version CDFTP+ 1.3x a GUI or can it still run as a DOS/batch?

It still has both, a GUI and a command line client.
