IBM Cloud Pak for Data now available on Microsoft Azure Marketplace

Earlier this year, IBM launched its flagship Data and AI offering Cloud Pak for Data on Microsoft Azure Marketplace as a transact-able listing, thereby expanding the partnership between IBM and Microsoft.  With this launch, we reached another milestone in the hybrid cloud journey for our customers by making it easier for them to deploy anywhere.  I am pleased to share, that we now have the most recent version of Cloud Pak for Data, which is 4.0.5, available on the marketplace, both for transactable and BYOL listings.
The transactable listing allows customers to acquire the entitlements/licenses for Cloud Pak for Data directly on the Azure marketplace and deploy it on their Azure infrastructure in a unified way.  It provides these key benefits to our customers:
  1. Cloud-ready, tested and scanned IBM software in Azure Marketplace to ensure reliability,
  2. Faster, fully-automated deployment with Azure Resource Management (ARM) templates,
  3. Ability to leverage committed Azure spend (MACC) for both software license cost as well as infrastructure consumption, and
  4. Unified way to acquire and deploy Cloud Pak for Data on Azure cloud infrastructure.
Simplify Procurement and Accelerate Deployment of IBM Cloud Pak for Data via Azure Marketplace


Customers with existing Cloud Pak for Data entitlement/license, purchased directly with IBM or through a  business partner, who would like to use Azure as their deployment environment can leverage the Cloud Pak for Data - BYOL listing on the Azure marketplace and get started directly through their Azure account.   Customers still get the same benefits of fully-automated, faster deployment using the ARM templates which are cloud-ready, tested and scanned 24/7 in Azure marketplace.  However, in this case only the Azure infrastructure consumption is counted towards the MACC drawdown but not the license purchase.  
Available on Azure and running on Red Hat OpenShift, the IBM Cloud Pak for Data platform simplifies and automates data collection, organization and analysis of data and accelerates the infusion of AI throughout the business.  Customers can make better data driven decisions and lay the foundation for AI with a data fabric that connects siloed data on premises or across multiple clouds without data movement.  It helps customers discover actionable insights and apply trusted data to build, run, automate and manage AI models.  With its capabilities to connect data everywhere; run workloads anywhere; and to build, deploy and manage AI at scale in hybrid cloud environments, IBM Cloud Pak for Data is the enabler for a business digital transformation.
IBM and Microsoft have provided a unified way to purchase and deploy IBM Cloud Pak for Data through Azure Marketplace.  In the upcoming months customers will be able to use a similar way to acquire and deploy additional Data and AI offerings from IBM on top of their Cloud Pak for Data installations.  Customers can spend more time deriving value out of the software and less time managing multiple payment and licensing environments.
