I am a Senior Lecturer in Information Technology at Federation University Australia.
I am the coordinator of Federation University Australia's Bachelor of Information Technology (Professional Practice) course. In this course, students complete a mandatory (paid, part time) 1600 hour internship over 2 years with one of our industry partners : IBM, Kyndryl, Westpac and NAB. Our interns gain valuable experience beginning their career whilst they are studying in their undergraduate degree.
Our industry partners work with us to co-design, co-develop and co-deliver our curriculum in a co-operative education model.
Our students often transition to graduate roles with their internship employer.
Our students complete internships and majors in one of Mainframe systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science and AI, Business Analysis and Software Engineering. We offer two specialist Mainframe subjects for our students and support emerging mainframe technologists of the future. I am the Ballarat Chapter Lead for 'IBM New to Z'.
I also teach students in various units including IT Project Management, Capstone Projects (authentic real projects for final year students for real clients), Java Programming.
I have a PhD and Research Masters degree from The University of Melbourne. I completed my Bachelor of Science majoring in Mathematics and Honours in Computer Science at James Cook University in Townsville. My research interests are in Artificial Intelligence - Intelligent cognitive agents, simulations and multi-agent systems.
I grew up in tropical North Queensland and now live in Ballarat, Victoria.
