Earlier this year IBM joined forces with mapping giants, Mapbox and Pitney Bowes with the end goal of allowing business users to access geospatial analytical insights from their data.
These partnerships provide the underlying infrastructure showcasing the world, regions, all the way down to Zip Code, Street level and points of interest. This combined with Cognos Analytics capabilities users can transform their location-based business data, into insight through the use of visualizations .
The latest release of Cognos 11.0.5 gives a taste of what’s to come with this partnership.
By expanding on existing RAVE 2 technology in the Cognos Analytics Dashboard, users can analyze measures (such as revenue) at a country and state level with bi-directional filtering
Cognos maps are intuitive and users can get started within seconds. It is as easy as selecting the mapping visualization and dragging data items directly on top of the map!
Additionally, Mapbox’s highly scalable and high performance vector maps will allow users to pan and zoom all the way down to street level with the click of a button.
Any selections made on other dashboard visualizations would automatically be reflected in maps and vice versa.
