What if….? Using the LSF Simulator to answer those hard questions

High Performance Computing Group

Connect with HPC subject matter experts and discuss how hybrid cloud HPC Solutions from IBM meet today's business needs.

LSF administrators are often faced with “what if” questions about the impact of making changes to production HPC environments. But testing changes in production HPC environments poses risks in terms of impact to critical work and timelines. This session will cover IBM Spectrum LSF Simulator, which allows administrators and capacity planners to de-risk changes to environments managed by IBM Spectrum LSF. In this session, we will discuss how LSF Simulator can be used to model changes to LSF workload policies, workload patterns and hardware configurations to evaluate the impact before making changes to the production LSF configuration.

Join John Welch and Renita Leung who will walk us through the LSF Simulator interface, import both LSF cluster configurations and workload snapshots, run simulations using time compression and compare results from simulations runs.
