Business Analytics Connect, learn and share with over 10000 users across the IBM Business Analytics. Ask a question
In this session, we will provide an overview of Universal Reports, tips and tricks, and provide a view of what is in the labs. Universal Reports offers various new features that are currently not available in other PAfE report types, such as native MS excel conditional formatting, full support for TM1 hierarchies, end user access to the set editor for report content control, and much more.

Hi Paul, the session will be recorded.
Having experimented with Universal Reports, beyond the basic concepts of grid based data sets being returned from cube MDX statements and how to construct those statements etc I think one thing that everyone would want to know is how far Universal Reports can now or will in the future be able to replace the functionality Dynamic Reports. If I understood correctly from one of the prior AMA's there was a suggestion that this would be the case at some stage.
Because of the way dynamic reports work with row insertion/ deletion (vs cell insertion in Universal Reports) and custom formatting at the top they allow for a few things including:
I understand that these points may be too involved for an introductory webinar but I think that most people would be seeking information on them soon enough.
John, great question. The December 5th session will provide the answers you are looking for. As we mentioned before, the roadmap for Universal reports includes the abilities mentioned above, however, it is not limited to be a "dynamic" reports replacement. On December 5th we will also discuss and show a static format. (TM1VAL)

Hi @Xavier Osorio, one question, can you have calculated columns in Universal Reports or can you reference UR data in DBRW and other Excel formulas?
As of 2.0.92 we do not support calculated columns, however our intention is to add this capability in the very near future. Calculated columns, rows and UDCs, will be supported. The legacy formulas will continue to work as always, they will not gain hierarchy support. TM1VAL was made available in 2.0.92, this new formula will retrieve a TM1 value into a cell.
I took part in the webcast last week. Unfortunately, I missed asking my questions. I have already experimented a bit and the following questions have arisen:
I know those questions are quiet specific. But may there is detailed documentation anywhere?Kind regards
Universal reports currently does not support asymmetrical folding and unfolding in the current version, however we are working on adding the capability in the near future.
We do not recommend the formulas listed above as they do not support hierarchies, if your universal report contains members from a hierarchy, these formulas will fail. We recommend TM1SET, TM1VAL. Mixing Dynamic report formulas and Universal reports is not recommended. We will enhance our calculation capabilities, you will be able to add standard excel formulas, UDCs, and also support attribute-based formatting.
YES, as long as the resulting MDX is syntactically correct.
I'll have to verify this, the outlined behavior is not normal.
Regarding the prerequisites, you mention that for PA Local the TM1 server must be 220.127.116.11 IF2 or newer but on your slides it says that PA Local do not require an upgrade to 18.104.22.168 IF 2.
