Thanks Svetlana
I worked out what the options represent 6 years ago but it is confusing for someone new. I think the point is that the option names should be clear enough so that one does not need to resort to documentation. I would suggest naming something similar to:
- "Save PAW View as" (Of course I would prefer "Save PAW Page as")
- "Save Database View as" (Or "Save TM1/PAE View as")

Hi John,
Thank you for pointing out to that functionality.
The Save view as option would make the view available in Report and Analysis as a page - this is the MDX view. If you use Save to server option, the tm1 native view would be replaced with the MDX view and would be shown and available in the Database tree, we're displaying the warning now to make sure the decision is made to do so as it could have an impact on the legacy clients. We're working towards consistency as the MDX views are offering flexibility and multi-hierarchy awarness. I agree, that we should fully clirify those options in our documentation, that would be available shortly.

Thanks Stuart
But I think that proposed approach is not a way to support current functionality where the published views (MDX statements) can be immediately consumed without further authoring in PAW. Just as is possible in PAfE.
Also I'll offer another opinion regarding using the name "View" in PAW, it was very confusing when I first saw it 6 years ago and it still grates on me every time I use it. Given there are books in PAW I think the term "Page" would make more sense and it is very confusing when there are options to save the PAW view and the "save to server" ( Don't they both save to a server?) MDX view.

Hi John,
I agree with your comments here. We are already investigating how we could replicate the TM1Web experience in Workspace. It's important to consider that our modern deployment option (Planning Analytics SaaS on AWS) does not include the TM1Web interface, only Workspace and Planning Analytics for Excel. In order to provide a smooth transition from TM1Web to Workspace we should add functionality that allows TM1Web solutions to be imported into Workspace without signifigant behaviour changes. This would include an experience where users can select from a list of prepared views. However, I think this should be a list of Workspace views, not TM1 views. Workspace views are saved with more detail than just the MDX query (e.g the view formatting and presentation) and Workspace has a better permissions system when compared to TM1s public or private object system.
In the current version of Workspace there is no obvious way for consumers to find existing Workspace views and add then to a book. I'm keen to address this limitation.

One topic that came up had to to do with opening a view in the modeller and it filling the screen rather than the user having to go through a process of resizing etc.
One of the things about TM1Web is that there is both weakness and strength in how it works. The weaknesses are handled in PAW but it's strength is that a "consumer" type of user can just go in and be presented with not just the cubes but all views that they have access to and of course all websheets. In PAW if we want a user to be a "consumer" then we have to author a report for every case. So adding a view means adding a new report or a new report view./ tab. What would be useful would be a way to have the described TM1Web functionality included in PAW some how. Perhaps the availability of the function would be handled by an attribute on the menu option in PAW.
