    Hi,

Can anyone advise whether we are meant to see the new Drive Explorer icon in the modelling workbench for our Non Production environment of PA on Cloud with PAW 2.0.98 or how we are meant to see and/or connect to our non-prod share folder?

    HI Gavin,

This article should give you some guidance. Note that the capability needs to be enabled before you will be able to see/use the drive explorer:

Use the new Drive explorer to access the S: drive

    Hi George

Many thanks for your response.   Its greatly appreciated.

I also received an email from IBM relating to the Drive Explorer in Non Prod Environments:

Unable to see Drive Explorer Button in Non-Primary Environments (ibm.com)

I have now been able to activate and access the new Drive Explorer feature in our NPE.

    Hi Gavin,

the link you provided cannot be displayed.

Could you share the information from IBM relating to the Drive Explorer in Non Prod Environments as I'd like to activate it also in our NPE ?

    Thank you,

    Jean-Michel

    Hi Jean-Michel,

The link was removed as the problem described has been resolved.  To enable the Drive Explorer in a non-prod environment you need to enable capabilities access for a user in that non-prod environment.  This is done from the user management page in the prod environment.

This screenshot shows you the order of things to click on to enable capabilities for your user (and other users) from the prod environment to the non-prod enviroments.

After making this change you still need to log into the non-prod environment and assign your user account the Drive Explorer capability.

Let me know if this helps!

    Hello George,

Do you or somebody else know, if there will be the possibility to use the drive explorer at the Planning Analytics as a service?

For now it is only possible to use in the cloud.

    Thanks in advance.

    With best regards,
    Vitalij

    Hi Vitalij,

I can confirm the 'Drive Explorer' feature will not be implemented in the newer Planning Analytics SaaS offering.  The Drive Explorer feature is used to access the file system used to host the TM1 databases.  There is no such file system in the Planning Analytics SaaS offering.  TM1 v12 is the SaaS version of the TM1 database.

We could consider enabling the Drive Explorer in Planning Analytics Local (with TM1 v11) as an opt-in feature.  However, this would require some extra configuration to account for the variability of on-premises TM1 installations.  For example, some TM1 installations might use a network share to store data and log files, other installations might use a local drive.  The Drive Explorer would need some configuration to determine which drive is exposes.

    Hello Stuart,

    thank you for your answer.

The idea with the DriveExplorer for the PA local might be good.
Maybe we might also speak about it in Würzburg.

    With best regards,
    Vitalij

Regarding Driver Explorer's security in PAW,  IBM's website says "There is no access control beyond enabling the Drive explorer capability."

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/2.0.0?topic=wnim2-use-new-drive-explorer-access-s-drive-cloud-only

Having no folder security sounds like a downgrade. Will we be able to tweak security in PAW like we can do today with FileShare accounts?
