Understand where you are coming from and agree nothing is impossible, I'd just be very curious to know if there was any TM1 specific technical/functional reason for moving back from a TM1 v12 based solution to TM1 v11 (I understand there is differences in clients/supported clients that might play a role as well). Keep in mind though TM1 v11 is in maintenance mode, and has effectively been for years now, all new development, and therefore all new functionality, goes into TM1 v12.

Hi Hubert,
I know this may sound like a strange question, but when we're dealing with prospective customers, I'm often asked the following question: "What about reversibility? If I choose one type of implementation, can I change it later?"
And then, in the jungle of prices .... Basically, AWS is more expensive than IBM Cloud, which is only authorized for 65 users or more....So I have to be very careful, and try to advise my customer on the best architecture for his needs, and the possibility of changing (or not changing) the architecture;
In conclusion, I'd say that you can migrate from v11 to any environment/implementation, and that V12 is still V12, whether it's saas or hybrid; that there are ways of moving from saas to v11, but that it's complicated.
Sincerely,
Philippe

Hi Philippe,
The short answer is 'No', despite what Edward is saying, unless you are using TM1's GIT integration and have a repo that has no dependencies on specific functionality in TM1 v12 or rather functionality that is no longer supported in TM1 v12 (typically still a 'No' as I'd expect everybody has to do some migration - same/similar limitations apply to what Edward proposes).
But the bigger question IMHO would be why would you ever would want to do that to begin with?
Cheers,

Once you are on TM1 v12 you can simply create a backup of your TM1 database and restore it on any other TM1 v12 service instance (on-cloud, on premise, containerized or local, Windows or Linux).

Thanks Hubert,
I'm now completely reassured about my ability to carry out this kind of migration in the future.
Just one question: if I wanted to migrate from AWS to on premice (silly, isn't it), would I have a solution for doing so?
Kind regards,
Philippe

UPDATE: Turns out those latest docs aren't up to date either, I've notified our information developer accordingly.
My French is far from perfect but I think you got the most important changes, most notably that it no longer is a bash script but rather an executable. I've attached a PDF version of the 'internal' version of the doc, the content we share with our information development as well, so you have the latest we have.
Again, if you feel something is missing/lacking, let me know, I hate to admit that documentation often only gets improved when asked, so just ask;-!

Hi Philippe,
You are correct, the docs referenced by Ted are out of date, I've seen an internal update from our doc writers dated the 25th of Jan but not sure when that version gets published and replaces the public one (hopefully soon, albeit I've not checked if that one is really up to date;-).
Happy to see you work it out, a lot has indeed changed under the covers and the GIT dependency is indeed gone. If you run into any more issues or have any other questions wrt migrating don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.
Cheers,

IBM doc is obsolete and you no more need git on windows.
I write a doc for myself ( in french sorry), perhaps it will help you.

Preparing to perform a migration to v12 from v11. The instructions for actually running the migration script seem to be out of date with migration download tool.
Has anyone recently run the migration utility to migrate v11 to v12 objects? Is there an updated instruction set? (IBM Bueller? IBM Bueller?)
