  • 1.  Future of Cognos Event Studio

    Hi, 
    Currently We are using Cognos version "IBM Cognos Analytics 11.0.12". We would like to know about the future of "Event Studio". Its very important tool for Business as it provides an option of selective triggering/decision based action. We would need to know if "Event Studio" will always continue OR if a new replacement component is on the way OR if this Triggering/decision based action option will be completely decommissioned. Many Business Users want to use it more extensively but We are afraid if this gets removed and no other similar component is introduced by IBM Cognos then how we would manage. 

    Please let us know if there is any similar component that would be introduced in the newer versions or if this tool will always continue as it is.

    Hi Vishal,

    There is no current timeline to deprecate Event Studio. You will likely see new features that are similar to what Event Studio does but it is not going away any time soon.

    Hi Vishal,
    What Trevor stated below is completely correct.  There are no plans to deprecate Event Studio and there are no plans to modernize it at this point.  Event Studio is a very important part of a lot of analytics flows used by many of our customers.  So, please continue to use Event Studio without worrying about it going away any time soon.

    Hi Tom,
    There are currently no plans to remove it from the product but as you know it's been stated as a deprecated studio.  You will still be given a years notice when it's to be removed.  You can open Query Studio up with Reporting now and see what migration is like so I suggest you try that and my suggestion is that where possible, tell your users to create assets using Reporting and Dashboarding and try and eliminate creation of new Query Studio assets if that's possible.

    Hi @GREG MCDONALD ,

    Though there is no plan to update Event Studio; however, we are trying to use new solutions using Data Module and not allowing Data Module as Source for Event Studio will not help and we have to continue to use FM for Event Studio use cases. Please advise.

    Hi Buddhi,

    There are no plans to deprecate Event Studio and at this point updates to Event Studio will be strategic.    Event Studio does not currently use Data Modules but I'm monitoring this IBM Idea.  I suggest you vote on it and if you know others please have them vote on it too.
