  • 1.  Find fields in packages

    I would like to know whether there is an easier way to find a field in a package.
    Let's say that we have implemented Cognos payroll module. We created a custom field called "Employee hobbies" and there was no documentation of the location of this field. Is there away to find the package and the custom field name within the package?
    In my case, there are so many fields that I need to find and there is no documentation. I am trying to see whether there is a way to find these. I am new to this and still learning. Apologies if this a stupid question.

    If it's a Framework Manager package then click View -> Tools. On the Tools pane click tab 'Search'

    You'll have to do this for each Framework Manager Model you have. I don't know of a way to search all FM models.

    What if the field prompted to the user has one name and the package has a different name. How do I map the name shown to the end user with the name in a package?

    Hi Dn Pr,

    You used the word "Package" so I assume you use Framework Manager (FM). You might have access to the FM model that was used to publish this package.

    You should have a model.xml file. You can make a copy of this file to another location, then use your preferred editor to search whatever you want.
