    Hi,

I am not able to do this (for all users) in our new Cognos prod environment. I tried two ways:

    1. Unchecking the 'Show the Welcome page at start up' in the Default user profile which works for all users logging in for the first time and
    2. Entering the values Glass.disableAlertBanner and Glass.disableWelcomeBanner  and setting the values to true in the Manage >Configuration > System > Advanced Settings > Custom settings

Neither of the above works for me. Would like to mention that I had used  1. from the above successfully in our test environment (11.2.4) but neither of the above works in the prod environment (11.2.4). Please suggest

    Hi Mack,

We recently installed CA 12.03. fresh from the boat and also wanted to deactivate the alert banners. In our case we just wanted the "what's new" stuff to disappear but still be able to show custom alerts we want to publish (like system maintenance times). In this case we set Glass.disableWhatsNewAlerts to true and it worked. Have  you tried this one and leave the rest with default settings?

    Hi Mack,

If you are an administrator, do the following:

Click on Manage / People / Account.

Select the Cognos namespace then a role* on which you will apply the following:

For instance, click on System administrators, Properties then Customization tab.

Click on Default for the Features option.

Go to Home then you can disable or enable whatever you need:

Click Apply button to save your change. You can do the same for another role.

    * You don't have the Customize tab for user or group, only for role.

    Best regards,

    Hi Patrick,

None of these is working for me surprisingly, neither setting the default user profile nor the Manage>people>account settings or the key, value settings in Manage >Configuration>System....... Custom settings. The default profile setting worked in our Cognos 11.2.4 Development environment but none of the options is working in the Cognos production environment of the same version, 11.2.4.

I think it would be better to approach IBM support. Thank you for the suggestions.

    Best Regards,

Add or remove a maintenance message - IBM Documentation

    https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/cognos-analytics/11.2.0?topic=settings-customizing-messages-in-alerts-banner

Manage > Configuration > System > Advanced > Custom Settings

Watch for white space at the end of the entries. Especially if using copy/paste.

    1.       Disable or enable all messages.

    Glass.disableAlertEntry - false

    2.       Disable or enable the What's New alerts

    Glass.disableWhatsNewAlerts - true

    3.       Add or remove a maintenance message

    Glass.maintenanceMessage
