I did notice that if you had the settings for cubes set for workbench prior to the release, they would not apply to books until you unchecked the settings, saved, and then re checked the settings.

Hi Stuart,
Understand the purpose and intent. In some testing, previously published workbooks will always take the user's settings until someone forcefully changes and then saves the setting on that viewer cube view. This doesn't seem to be the case on workbooks created in PAW 97.
Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan,
The Consumer role cannot add new views to a book. The profile settings do not change how an existing view in a book is presented to the user. The profile setting determine how the view is configured when the user (Analyst role or greater) adds a view widget to a book or opens a view in a tab in the modeling workbench.
You mention this "The behavior we are seeing is that a consumer can change these settings in a published book". The consumer role can modify any setting that doesn't require edit mode. However, they cannot persist any changes as they cannot save books or views.

Hi Svetlana,
When will the user in the Consumer role get this option? As far as our user base is concerned consumers vs. analysts would still need the opportunity to have their own view settings. The behavior we are seeing is that a consumer can change these settings in a published book but cannot set their own global settings. As an analyst who opens a previously created workbook, their new setting overrides whatever setting the workbook was published with.
Thank you.

Hi Walter,
Yes, it's available as of PAW 97.
https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/planning-analytics/2.0.0?topic=2097-define-workspace-settings-from-central-settings-editor
It'd give you the cube views with the hierarchy name displayed.
Best regards,

Hello Svetlana, Is there a global setting for the cube viewer to always turn on Hierarchy Names for all users?

Hi all,
This feature would be available in the first half of 2024;
we're working on the global settings that are going to cover many interaction areas with the objects in the Report and Analysis books.
Best regards,

Hi Seb,
I haven't heard any update on the timeline unfortunately. It would be great to get those settings in to books, you kind of always needs to toggle them on when you create a new view. I know there are something planned around setting default view options for users, could be that it will be released as part of that.
@STUART KING could you help us out here, is there a timeline to get these default setting options in books?

Hi Scott,
It is great to have those options in the workbench, unfortunately they are not (yet) available in books. I know that it is on the roadmap, and I believe it is targeted for books later this year / start next year.

Hi,
I noticed in workspace workbench it is possible to set defaults for cube view "View Options" so hierarchy names are always displayed. Is the same ability to set default "View Options" available for workspace books? I now version 90 that classic views are going away and was looking for a way to let users set defaults when they create a new cube view in a workspace book.
