Is there a way to have a fixed filter in a dashboard that can't be removed by the user of the dashboard ?
Simple example : I have a dashboard about orders with a status open/closed,  I have a dataset with orders, their creation date ,status and responsible person. In 1 widget a want to show number of orders created for each month. In a second widget i only want to show the open orders for each responsible person.
Therefore i can use a local filter in the widget, to filter on open orders. But a dashboard-user can delete this filter, in that case the data in the widget is incorrect. I can solve this by using different datasets (eg one that contains open orders, and one that contains all orders) , but i want to avoid that. It would be nice to have the possibility to define fixed filters on widget or tab-level, that can't be modified/removed by an end user.

    Hi Filip,

we also have the same setting in our dashboards. For these use-cases we have uploaded an extension from the IBM Accelerator Catalogue to hide the filter icon of the widget. When the icon is hidden, the local filter cannot be removed.
    https://community.ibm.com/accelerators/catalog/content/Hide-widget-filter-icon-on-dashboards-(11.1.5-and-above)

    I hope this helps.

    Robert,

Thanks for your reply. I 'll  check if this extension can be a solution. What in case the user filters on another dimension in this widget ?  I assume this solution will hide all filters on this widget.

    regards,
    Filip

    Hi Filip,
yes it hides the icon completely. None of the applied filters is visible anymore.
If you don't wish to do so you have to apply the filter in the underlying data module as mentioned by Ian Henderson.

One possible approach would be to create the filter on the query subject in the data module.  That way, the query subject is filtered in such a way that any user cannot alter unless they have the right to open the source module and know how to edit the filter.

    Ian,

My dashboard is based on a dataset.  If i understand it correctly, i have to include my dataset twice in a data module. One with filter, and one without ? Because for some widgets i need to filter, for other i don't need to filter.

    regards,
    Filip
