  • 1.  Is it possible to schedule a restart of a TM1 service.

    Hi,

    I know it is possible to manually restart a TM1 service via workspace, but is there way of scheduling or choring a restart of a TM1 service?  Or is it better to schedule a server reboot?

    What are the advantages and disadvantages of rebooting the server itself on a nightly basis?  Clearing cached memory/ views is one of them.

    Our Client's IT seem to be against rebooting the server on a nightly basis.

    We do a weekly restart of each of our TM1 services.  We have a control cube that says which day and between what hours we would like the restart to occur.  Most of our services have a save data all process that runs every hour.  In the epilog of the savedataall process we have some code that checks is today the day in the control cube we state as the restart day if no then do nothing if yes and if the hour is between the window we set then it does an executecommand to run script using TM1 API that restarts the service.  This guarantees first and foremost that a savedata all has run prior to any restart.  We have found this has been helpful in clearing hold cubes and refreshing the service.  Let me know if you need examples!
