Sorting within a data module

Is it possible to sort data items in a data module? I am not seeing a way to do that and my users have to browse through long lists of data to find what they need.

I've attached a pic of what the GOSALESHR data module looks like. I want to sort the items under Employee alphabetically.

    What version are you on?
At least In 11.1.5 and 11.1.7 it is simply drag and drop in the data module

Never mind the errors, just an example where I'm dragging an item to reorder it.

    I am on 11.1.4.

So you have to manually order the items in the data module then? I was looking for a way to sort everything within the data module that wasn't so time-consuming.

You need to manually sort query items in the module.   This is done by drag and drop.  This will allow you to present the query items in the order you want.

You can put query items into folders, which can organize query items by some subject area.

There is a search control at the top of the metadata tree in dashboards and authoring.  This allows users to search for objects which they know by name.

Thanks, Ian - I'll try out the folders you mentioned.

What type of sorting would you want?

Right now when you click my extension it opens a table that lists every table in the model and presents three buttons. Ascending, Descending, Magic.

Magic groups the data items by type then sorts ascending by name

    With magic it sorts by
    1. Folder
    2. Filter
    3. Identifier
    4. Attribute
    5. Facts
    6. <Anything else>

Can you think of any other sorting mechanisms?

I want the sorting you describe for easier navigation for my users who are building out data modules.

I am not seeing the buttons you describe. Is magic an extension? I am not seeing it listed in the Accelerator Catalog.

It's going to be part of the toolset PMsquare is releasing. I'm not entirely sure when it will be released, but it soon be soon.

I've tested it on r5 through r7 and it works great. It's not released yet, but will be soon.
