Load more, Load more, Load more

I saw this APAR come through yesterday and it reminded me of a feature I requested a while back.

Currently in PAW 2.0.57 (and possibly newer), when navigating the Databases trees, you get the first 20 items then need to click Load more... to get the next few.  As the OP of the APAR mentioned, this can be a pain on larger systems as you have to keep clicking to open up more items.

What I logged on the "old" RFE system was the ability to apply a filter to the Database tree, just like you would do in SQL server management studio.  You could simply apply an expression and whittle the list down to a relevant and manageable size.  Ideally you may want to be able to save these filters as shortcuts e.g. save a filter for anything to do with sales so that you can click and apply at a later date.

There is plenty of space above the databases list - right now, only the word Data and the refresh icon. A text field and an apply./clear icon would fit nicely. Alternatively, mimic the Search functionality like on Shared and Personal folders.

I would still like to see the Load more disappear but curious to hear what other think of these ideas before I load on the Ideas site.

Agree that the circumstances described in the APAR are unpleasant.

I'd definitely support a way to search / filter the whole TM1 object tree based on a text string.  Would be better if the filter was applied in a type ahead manner rather than having to hit a button.

Filtering as you type would work too, would obviously limit to a "contains" type filter - probably fine for 99.9% of the cases and infinitely better than what is there now.

    Hi,
I have added a Enhancement request about this issue.  Please feel free to vote for it and add your comments on how you would like it to work!

While we work on a search (see Stuart comment below), to alleviate this "load more" pain, we will be releasing (next release, 60) a setting  on the tree that will let users to pick (and save) the size of the loaded page, so you can load 20, 50 or 100 per batch

Thanks guys - noticed with the recent update to our dev environment I now have a settings option in the Data tree and can choose to view 20, 50 or 100 items before loading more.  Much appreciated!

    Hi George,

Good news!  The ability to search/filter model objects (cubes, dimensions, hierarchies, processes, etc) by name, and the ability to 'show all' objects instead of having to load more are on the roadmap!  I would expect to see these features show up in 1Q of 2021.  No need to open or vote on an enhancement request at this point, it's going to happen.

I'll circle back with a video recording when the development work is more complete.
