Hi fellow readers.

We are glad to announce that we just released our new version of Galigeo Location Intelligence for IBM Cognos (codename: G19).
Note: You will find all the useful links (download, what's new, ...) at the end of this post.

This new version brings a lot more new features to the table, with the aim to help democratizing Location Intelligence within Business Analytics and Reporting processes.
With Galigeo G19, we have specifically re-thought the way of leveraging geodata, and the different possibilities you have to blend it with operational and contextual data to help on getting insights faster.

Note: It works with or without any GIS Server, and is the perfect solution to replace ESRI Maps For Cognos (learn more here).

>>> Below is a sneak peek how what you will be able to find in this new version <<<

Your own GIS Server dedicated to your Analytics

We have completely rethought the way to work with geodata.

Hi guys, thanks for your comments.

@Jo-Ann Yewchuk The main difference is that Mapbox offers geomapping technology (an API), but then you have to build yourself the "features" you need, from "core bricks" MapBox exposes.
By building, it means assemble these bricks through coding, and then maintain this code, ...
It's the way MapBox works in all the BI tools it is present: MicroStrategy, Power BI, ...

While Galigeo offers an out-of-the-box product, where all the features are already built-in and ready to be used. So you focus on creating compelling views of your data through maps, and not developing a solution in order to be able to do it.

It's two different approches.

For instance using the default MapBox within IBM Cognos you can't get geodata from an ESRI system (on-prem or online) because such feature doesn't exist out of the box, so you have to code it in MapBox.
While with Galigeo it's just a matter of copy/pasting a URL from an ESRI Service.

If you are looking for a replacement solution for the now-dead ESRI Maps for Cognos, Galigeo is the way to go has it provide a deep integration with ESRI Server and Online.

And if you are looking for a Geomapping solution for IBM Cognos, even if you don't plan to use ESRI as a GIS data provider, Galigeo will offer a self-service experience by providing all the features needed out-of-the-box: choropleth, heatmap, pie charts, time series, extraction of data based on spatial criteria such as distance, drive-time, ...

Can anyone tell me the difference between using this product and Mapbox?  I thought Mapbox was the tool of choice for mapping in Cognos.
