One of our goals with Cognos Analytics is to make sure that anyone can feel empowered to leverage data in their day-to-day job. So for us its very important that when a user logs in to Cognos, they know exactly where to go and how to proceed. So with Cognos Analytics 12.0.0 we've made some big improvements to the home page.

Assistant
One of my most prominent changes we've made is putting the Assistant front-and-centre on the Cognos home page. This Assistant is an amazing tool for getting answers from your data quickly. Now all you have to do is type a question from the home page, and you can start getting answers. One of our goals here to to bring analytics to a lot of users that either don't have the time or the skills to navigate a dashboard. Because while dashboards are an important piece of self-service analytics, they also aren't for everyone.
Quick start tiles
A lot of self-service business users are not using Cognos every day, but occasionally they want to be able to quickly start working with an uploaded file or an enterprise data source. These tiles are for exactly those kinds of users. You don't need to know anything about Cognos, because these new UIs will guide the users with a couple of simple steps.
Working with your content
We have simplified the Recents section so that its always visible an no one can miss it. We've also added a handy shortcut to go directly to the content navigator from the home page.
Learning resources
We've consolidated access to the learning resources. Use the Get Started button for one-click access to Help, Samples and the Accelerator Catalogue. The Videos button brings up 7 quick videos to help get an understanding of the main features of Cognos. And for our cloud customers, you can get step-by-step walk-throughs using the Product Tour button.
