Interactive Viewer enhancements

We continue to make improvements in the new interactive viewer, including some dramatic performance improvements and features previously available in the classic viewer.

Lineage support for FM packages

Lineage information traces the metadata of an item back through the package and the data sources. This option is available in Cognos Analytics interactive viewer, as well as page preview mode in report editing mode.



Business glossary

Business glossaries help you manage and share your enterprise vocabulary and classification system. It is only available when IBM InfoSphere Information Governance Catalog is configured in Cognos Administration.

Freeze List column heading

In Cognos 10, a report consumer could right click on a List or a Crosstab and choose to freeze column headings. There are many limitations with the previous implementation. For example, the data container automatically re-size to a fixed height. It changes the overall look and feel of the report. Freezing column heading also removes most of the formatting that was applied on the data container at authoring time.

In Cognos Analytics 11.0.6, we’ve changed the design and made this as an authored property. A report author can specify the height of the scrollable area, in pixels using the ‘Scrollable area height’ property. This property is available for List objects only. Formatting applied on the List are also maintained.

The ‘Rows per page’ property is still being honored. If you want to see all data within a List with a scrollbar, please making sure the ‘Rows per page’ property has a very high number so all data can be retrieved in a single list for navigation.



 Improved query support for data modules

Starting in 11.0.6, report authors can access and modify queries when creating reports using data modules. This enables the ability to create parameterized filters, custom calculations, conditional styles and many more. Expression editor and authored drill through definition are also available for advanced report authoring.

Report templates

When creating a report in IBM Cognos Analytics, a set of layout templates and themes maybe available if IBM Cognos samples are installed. If no samples are installed, Cognos Analytics 11.0.6 will show a blank template by default.

You can create a report and save it under ‘Team content ->Templates’. This report will show up as a template when launching reporting. Similarly, any reports saved under ‘Team content -> Templates->Style Reference Reports’ will show up as themes when launching reporting.

You can also modify existing templates or themes that are included with our samples by modifying the reports under Templates folder.
