From sorting, drilling, and filtering to visualizing, sharing, and pinning, Cognos Analytics Dashboards offer features for every flavor of analytics user. Foundational to any functionality is the performance behind it. Performance is a little like wi-fi; you don’t really think about it until it drops a bar or two. Functionality and performance go hand in hand.
Performance improvements are a fundamental area of investment and we are always looking at ways to tweak the engine behind the analytics. In our current long-term-support release Cognos Analytics 11.1.7, we improved the Data Sets feature making it faster from a Data Set creation standpoint and more efficient in terms of the amount of resources consumed.
In Cognos Analytics 11.2.0 we focused on implementing incremental backend performance improvements to improve the speed and execution of Cognos Analytics Dashboards across a variety of use cases. Some of the areas we’ve optimized include initial load time, query execution and metadata performance. These improvements are most noticeable on large datasets.
We will continue investigating and implementing performance improvements where possible to make Cognos synonymous with performance in business analytics.
