Provisioning Planning Analytics

as a Service

Planning Analytics as a Service (PAaaS) provisioning is completed relatively quickly after an order is processed.

Planning Analytics as a Service is self provisioned using the IBM SaaS Console and i
t all starts with an email

The PAaaS subscription owner receives an email containing the link to the SaaS Console.
Select the blue button to launch the SaaS Console.

Note: On first login, if the user does not already have an IBMid, an IBMid will be need to be created.
To create an IBMid please see: Creating an IBMid

Once in the SaaS Console you will see a host of capabilities but the important one is to provision your instance.  Before we do this we will take some tome to walk you through the IBM SaaS Console.

In the top right you can manage access to the SaaS console

Note: This is for other users that you wish to be able to manage the subscription and not Planning Analytics users (these will be added later).

There are also other sections such as ”billed usage” more information, including tours, can be found by selecting the question mark in the top right corner in the black title bar.

In the top left there is an icon with four lines

    This opens a menu

Selecting the status page shows the
current status information for all SaaS services.

Expanding Planning Analytics shows the current status of our services (including the ability to report an outage).

At the top of the Status page you will see other tabs.

All these tabs can be filtered for the Planning Analytics offering.

Planned maintenance covers upcoming maintenance activities.

The other tabs are for Relevant Announcements, Historic activity and any incident reports.

Selecting any of the items on a page opens a side window for more information.

To provision your instance of Planning Analytics as a Service we will navigate back to the instance creation screen.

Selecting subscriptions from the menu (four lines icon on the top left) takes you to the overview subscriptions page.

Selecting the “Planning Analytics” link takes you back to the original page
that you were directed to in the email.

Now is the time to create your Planning Analytics Instance.
An instance is a complete system with one or more environments (
ie. Development, UAT and Production) for your purchased number of users and quota (RAM/Storage).

Select the “Create Instance” button.

A form will now appear.

You can select the region from the dropdown.

This is important as this dictates the region Planning Analytics as a Service will operate in for data residency.

Next, give the instance a name.   This can be any name (alphanumeric without spaces) that you wish however you should avoid choosing names such as “Production” or application specific names
ieProfit_and_Loss
as these are usually the environments and models you will create within the instance.

Think of the instance as your company building and inside the building you have a development floor with a room for the P&L model.  What do you want the “building to be called”?

Note: the Instance name will become the name of your first environment however more environments can be added and/or removed and names changed.

Once the region and name are complete hit the blue “Create” button.

Note:  Should you not see a provisioning message against your instance or a blank screen,  please raise a support ticket see: Getting Support.

The screen will now show your instance as provisioning.

Once complete,  the screen will show the number of users, instance as running and a link to launch.

Select this link to open Planning Analytics Workspace. The launched page is the url you can now use for direct access to Planning Analytics.

Congratulations!
