Urgent Security Bulletin
IBM Cognos Analytics: Apache log4j Vulnerability (CVE-2021-45046). This issue is categorized as Critical Severity. Apache Log4j is used by IBM Cognos Analytics as part of its logging infrastructure. This bulletin addresses the exposure to the Apache Log4j (CVE-2021-45046) vulnerability. IBM Cognos Analytics has upgraded Apache Log4j to v2.16. Please note that this update also addresses CVE-2021-44228. Stay abreast of the latest remediation and fixes here. You can also raise a support ticket here if you need assistance.

IMPORTANT Information for Clients that upgrade IBM Cognos Analytics after applying the no-upgrade instructions to address log4j v2 vulnerabilities - Running a DQM (Dynamic Query Mode) report or testing a database connection returns an error. Get information on the error and resolution information here.

New Releases

Cognos Analytics with Watson 11.2.2. has arrived!  This version builds on the substantial new capabilities we introduced with Cognos Analytics with Watson 11.2.1.  Take a quick look at what else is new with this release. 

MotioCI 3.2.10.2 is now available from Passport Advantage. This release of MotioCI 3.2.10.2 replaces MotioCI 3.2.10.1 in inventory for log4j remediation.

How to include report performance details in report output.  The option "Include performance details" is designed for authors that want to interactively view the performance of their reports. Read this technote for details.

How to track dashboard activities.  
Currently, the Activities section of the System tab in the administration console supports displaying activities for Reports and Jobs only.  Here is how to view dashboard execution.

Synchronizing data source metadata changes to update data module metadata.  Starting in Cognos Analytics 11.2.2, you can more easily update the metadata of your modules to match what is stored in loaded schemas, uploaded files, and data sets which your modules use. Read the blog post here.
