Meet Catherine Grainger, the Planning Practice Director at Sempre Analytics. Catherine has worn many hats throughout her career, from management accounting to Head of People. One thing she has always come back to is business analytics – whether it’s data collection, modelling or reporting. She has such a breadth of career experience, she’s someone you’ll want to chat with. Naturally, IBM Planning Analytics is her favourite IBM product. Since her experience as an accountant, she finds it particularly impactful to see the power of software and how it can revolutionise work, enabling organisations to make better business decisions.
When it comes to advocacy, throughout her six years as an IBM Champion, Catherine has enjoyed speaking to people early in their discovery process. She finds it fulfilling to witness their gradual comprehension of the software's capabilities and the transformative potential it holds for them, their colleagues, and their businesses. The driving force behind Catherine’s dedication to the technology community is her passion for sharing knowledge and experiences. By contributing to the intersectional understanding of technology, she believes that the community becomes stronger and more vibrant... We are really lucky to have Catherine as an IBM Champion, there is so much to learn from her!
She has gone above and beyond in her impact on the TechXchange community. One of her proudest moments is being invited to an IBM Tech4Her lunch for Women in Senior Leadership. At the event, she participated in a discussion on AI Ethics, Regulation, and Solutions, emphasising the importance of ensuring women are engaged and involved throughout the AI Lifecycle. Catherine’s natural inclination to lead aligns with her career choice if she were not working in technology… “As a child I wanted to be a French teacher, so maybe I’d have ended up doing that!”
