Prerequisites
This document was written using Lifecycle Manager 11.1.1 and Windows Server 2012. This document also assumes you have at least intermediate knowledge of Windows operating systems.
Overview
By default, when you install and configure Lifecycle Manager on a Windows server you are required to remain logged into the Windows server to be able to use the application. This document will describe how you can configure Windows Task Scheduler to have Lifecycle Manager remain running while you are not logged into the server.
Configuring Windows Task Scheduler
Launch Windows Task Scheduler and follow these steps:
- In Task Scheduler, select the option to Create Basic Task.
- Enter a Name and click Next.

- Next, select how you would like to task to start and click Next. (For our purposes, I’ve selected One Time)

- Select a date and time when the task will be executed and click Next. (Once the task is created you can execute it manually)

- For the Action, select Start a program and click Next.

- For the Program/script field, you will need to select the bat file located in your LCM install directory.
- You will also need to enter your LCM install path in the Start in
Example path - "C:\Program Files\ibm\cognos\lcm1.1.1"

- Click Next.
- On the Finish screen select the checkbox to Open the Properties Dialog… and click

Upon clicking finish, you should be presented with the Properties window. This is where you will select the option to allow the task to run when the user is logged on to the server or not. By selecting this option, it will allow LCM to continue running when the user who started the application is logged off from the server.
- In the properties window select the option to Run Whether user is logged on or not
- By default, LCM will run under the user account who created the task. This can be changed by selecting the option to Change the User or Group.

- Click Ok
- After clicking Ok, enter the credentials of the user account that will be used to run the task and click Ok.

Starting LCM
Once you have the task configured, you will need start LCM by running the task in Task Scheduler.
You can manually execute the task by doing a right mouse click on the task and select Run
