Along with the new release of IBM watsonx Assistant for Z Version 2.2.5 which was delivered on June 25th, there has been a new fixpack released for Z ChatOps (Version 1.1.4.4).
Z ChatOps now provides an even tighter integration with watsonx Assistant for Z. With Z ChatOps, you can surface incidents from Z AIOps tools such as IBM OMEGAMON, IBM Z System Automation, IBM Z Workload Scheduler, and others, in enterprise chat tools – for example in a Slack or Mattermost channel.
The integration with watsonx Assistant for Z enables any user in the chat channel to simply click a button (“Show Explanation”) to get an AI-explanation for the displayed incident based on the rich knowledgebase available via watsonx Assistant for Z. The AI assistant not only provides a detailed explanation of the incident’s message, but it also provides recommended actions and clickable hyperlinks to the documentation used as source of the explanation.
See an example explanation for a High CPU alert, which was triggered by OMEGAMON for a particular LPAR:
In addition, the new Z ChatOps release provides now more than 60 skills that allow users of watsonx Assistant for Z to gain operational insights provided by Z AIOps tools from an AI conversation with the Z Assistant. New skills delivered in the latest release provide insights from Z System Automation, Z NetView, and Z Workload Scheduler. For example, you can ask the Z Assistant to list batch jobs that are late. In this example, the Z Assistant will use IBM Z Workload Scheduler to gather the information and present it in the chat window.
The new queries available for Z System Automation, Z NetView, and Z Workload Scheduler, expand the existing queries that use OMEGAMON metrics to display performance and health information for z/OS and subsystems like CICS, Db2, IMS, JVMs, and more.
