Introduction

This video is a step by step guide on how to create the Cognos Analytics licensed roles in your Cognos Analytics Environment for versions 11.0.0 to 11.0.6.

Creating the roles is a key part of setting up an authenticated Cognos Analytics environment and this Video and Blog is designed to help Cognos Administrators learn the basics steps required for this important task.

1. How to create the Analytics Administrator role.


2. How to remove “Everyone” from the built-in Cognos roles.


3. How to create the Analytics Explorer role.


4. How to create the Analytics User role.


5. How to create the Information Distribution role.

Environment

In this example we will be using Cognos Analytics 11.0.5.0 with an Active Directory 2012 R2 Namespace.

For the purposes of this example we have setup the following groups and users in an Active Directory Namespace called ‘Active Directory’:

Active Directory Group	User ID in Group
Analytics Administrators	Analytics Administrator
Analytics Explorers	Analytics Explorer
Analytics Users	Analytics User
Information Distribution	Information User

 

Please note that the actual steps to create the groups and users in Active Directory as well as details on how to configure a Namespace in Cognos Configuration are outside the scope of this tutorial.
