IBM Champion Tim Hill

Meet Tim Hill, VP of Engineering and Distinguished Engineer at Rocket Software, proud to be an IBM Champion for about five years. Over the course of his career, Tim has dedicated himself to finding ways to help organizations work smarter and safer with IBM technology. His favorite product is IBM PowerSC, a tool he appreciates because it brings so much functionality for automated compliance and security across all Power operating systems. For Tim, it is the kind of product that proves why security is never just an add-on, it is central to keeping businesses strong and running smoothly.

Tim’s favorite type of advocacy is speaking at events. From PowerUp, SHARE, GSE, and TechXchange, to customer presentations and sales enablement sessions, he enjoys connecting with people around the world who are eager to learn and share. What drives him is simple but powerful: he believes that the best way to grow knowledge is through real conversations. For Tim, giving back is never just one-sided, it is mutually beneficial, because every discussion with peers or customers pushes him to think more critically and see challenges from new perspectives. This is also what led him to become an IBM Champion: a desire to exchange ideas and spark progress together.

Looking back, Tim is proud of the opportunities he has had to engage deeply with both technology and people, and he continues to look forward to building those connections. Outside of tech, his dream career would be as a professional golfer, something he says with a smile, knowing exactly why he stayed in technology instead. To future Champions, his advice is thoughtful and encouraging: “Give thought to how your product or project benefits customers. Then seek opportunities to discuss current and future relevant technology with others.” For Tim, that’s the real path to making a difference, both as a professional and as an IBM Champion.
