IBM Champion Charlie Guarino
Meet Charlie Guarino, President of Central Park Data Systems and an IBM Champion for eight years. For Charlie, the answer is simple when it comes to his favorite IBM product: IBM i platform. He has spent decades helping organizations unlock its full potential, and he admires its legendary longevity and reliability. This commitment has shaped his entire career and continues to inspire the way he connects with others in the IBM community.
Charlie’s favorite way to advocate is through speaking engagements, whether at local user groups, COMMON conferences, or international events. He loves the energy of sharing technical topics with others, and it also keeps him sharp and motivated. One accomplishment he is especially proud of is founding iChime, a virtual worldwide community created during the isolation of Covid. Every month, iChime brings professionals together to engage in discussions with industry leaders, using a “No PowerPoint” approach that makes the conversations open and dynamic. Beyond iChime, Charlie has traveled the world sharing his expertise, speaking at COMMON events in Japan, India, all across Europe, and throughout the U.S., each event leaving him with valuable connections and memories.
If he weren’t in technology, Charlie imagines himself in a role that still centers on people, stories, and laughter, perhaps even as a tour guide, where he could bring energy and curiosity to every interaction. To those hoping to become IBM Champions, Charlie’s advice is clear: “Share your knowledge in whatever way feels right for you: blogs, vlogs, articles, short videos, or speaking at events. Fresh, relevant content is always needed, and your perspective is always important.”
Lightning round:
- What would be your superpower and why?
For any cause that I am enthusiastic about, getting people connected. When people are curious and open to learning, new communities can quickly grow.
Is this even a question? Ice cream!
Dogs are the best.
Summer, all year long.
Evening – catching a great sunset.
eBook!
Movies will always win.
- A night out or a night in?
Night out!
- Cannonball into the pool or dip a toe in first?
Dip that toe, every time.
I can speak to any size group, but to sing in front of even one person? Never!
Your flight is now departing….
