IBM Champion Udo Sachs

Meet Udo Sachs, a passionate IBM Champion who’s been lighting up the IBM Power space since 2020. Now in his sixth year as a Champion, Udo leads the Competence Center for IBM Power at SVA, where he inspires not only his team but also the broader tech community. His favorite IBM product (no surprise) is IBM Power. He describes it as a powerhouse of innovation, security, availability, and performance, making it the perfect foundation for running the world’s most critical workloads. His energy when talking about it is contagious, and you can tell he really believes in the strength of the platform.

Udo feels more comfortable and excited when he’s speaking at events and offering product feedback directly to IBM teams. He’s not just sharing knowledge, he’s shaping the future of technology with his input. One of his proudest accomplishments was organizing his 50th IBM Power event last year, marking 20 years of community engagement and knowledge sharing. With around 3,000 participants and a surprise visit from Bill Starke, it became a celebration of long-term commitment and trust. For Udo, being an IBM Champion is all about giving back and encouraging others to discover the potential of IBM Power. He believes that meeting people with the same passion at events like TCC for Power in Austin and the Common Europe Congress in Gothenburg makes it all worth it. If he had a superpower, it would be instant system healing, keeping infrastructure up and running like a digital immune system. And if he weren’t working in tech? You’d probably find him doing something sporty! Udo’s advice to future Champions: follow your passion, share your voice, and don’t be afraid to make a difference in the community.
