The Cognos home page has a fresh look starting with release 12.1.0 that has a cleaner look and makes it easier to access learning information, browse your content and create new content.

A simplified but more powerful home page

Cognos 12.1 features an updated home page with a sleeker design. While it will mostly be familiar to users of previous versions, we streamlined it and put the guidance for creating content under a single prominent tile, and all the learning materials under another tile. The Assistant is still right there on the home page, easy to access.

Additionally, we have now made the My Content and Team Content folders directly from the home page. You no longer must switch the Content view to browse these folders. The Content view is of course still there for a more dedicated content browsing experience, but for many users these tabs on the home page will be all they need.

Easier than ever to create new content

Getting started with creating content in Cognos is easier than ever.  The expandable "New" section in the hamburger menu is available and it shows you everything that you can create in Cognos all in one place.  For a more guided experience, use the Create tile on the home page.  It will walk you through uploading a file or choosing an existing data asset, and give you the options on how to proceed.

Better access to learning tools

Compared to Cognos 12.0 and 11.2, the various learning resources on the home are now consolidated in a single place and are less scattered.  The 'Learn' button is the gateway to all kinds of essential Cognos information.  From here you can launch interactive product tours (Cognos on Cloud only), helpful getting started video, a comprehensive webinar on using the product, as well as links to documentation, samples, the Accelerator Catalogue, and customer support.
