
Previously you used an image verification point to assert that images in your app were correct, however you couldn’t validate any text on those images. Imagine a situation where a site banner is provided to you by a third party and you need to validate that the call to action is correct across releases.
With the optical character recognition (OCR) support in 9.1.1.1, you can use the image verification point to validate text in local applications, or more importantly, on applications accessed through remote desktop technologies.
Here’s how it works. Let’s assume you’ve found and selected the image that you want to verify. As you work through the steps to create an image verification point you select a new option (Text on the image) to use OCR to capture text on the image. Next you provide the coordinates of the text on the image by selecting its region. You finish the steps, the captured image displays, and the image verification point is recorded and added to the test script.
