IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center is the on-premises infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platform on IBM Z® and IBM® LinuxONE, designed to address the following key challenges 

  • Lifecycle management of large virtual infrastructure deployments
  • Automated infrastructure services for users via self-service portal, templates and images management
  • Multi-tenancy and Live guest migration to separate resources when needed and relocate virtual machines on demand.
  • Integration of IBM Z and IBM® LinuxONE based infrastructure into enterprise computing
  • Utilizing an operational model that is based on industry standards 
  • Bringing together traditional virtual machine based workloads and infrastructure management for containerized workloads using Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
  • Trust the IaaS solution that fules both traditional and private cloud instances inside and outside of IBM. 

Cloud Infrastructure Center provides a consistent user experience to any administrator and user to create and manage a unified, enterprise-wide infrastructure that drives business agility and innovation.

The new Cloud Infrastructure Center 1.2.4 is focusing to further improve the operational efficiency and user experience.

With IBM Cloud Infrastructure Center 1.2.4, the following new features are available:

  • Enable support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.4̶
    Supports IBM® Cloud Infrastructure Center deployment for z/VM and KVM hypervisors on management and compute nodes running Red Hat Enterprise
    Linux 9.4, with management node installation in standalone mode and compute node installation available in both standalone ( RHEL 9.4 + RHEL 8.X ) and HA modes ( RHEL 8.X )
  • Storage Migration Utility̶
    Facilitates smooth migration between PBHA (Policy-Based High Availability) supported Storage Providers.
  • Improve upgrade experience:̶
    Optimizes the upgrade process through a two-phase approach and policy inclusion.
  • Multiple Disk Pool Support ̶
    Utilization of disk space by enabling multiple disk pool support on the z/VM Hypervisor. ICIC allows user to select disk pool while deploying virtual machine.
    Supported disk pool types are ECKD and FBA.
