As a Director for IBM Analytics, I have the privilege of driving business and strategy for Data Science and Machine Learning Offerings. I’m really excited to join you all as a speaker for IBM’s Community Day and share what I’ve learned from bringing data science to the forefront of our products. Data science is a special beast in the software solutions world which continues to evolve in importance, adoption, and impact across industries. Notably, macro trends on algorithmic, computational and even cultural levels shape the rapidly evolving landscape.
On the computational side, we’re finding the data science arsenal is mobilizing teams to venture into uncharted domains. On the level of culture, the market lacks a robust pipeline of data scientists with the technical range and retention rates requisite to fuel evolving data driven market demands.
The most compelling issue that I find lies at the heart of data science neither pertains to engagement nor retention. Having spent a decade in IBM Research and transitioning to managing the data science team, I’ve been trying to determine how to optimize value derived from data science across all products and offerings. I came to the realization that if you want data to tell you a story you’ve never heard before, it has to be real data. I would definitely say my mantra is “no data, no science.”
It’s therefore immensely exciting to lead IBM’s Data Science Platform which provides an integrated three-pronged approach to optimizing the data science journey across all levels of expertise, paving the way forward for profound transformation.
Please join us for our very first virtual community day event to learn more. We look forward to sharing our insights and hearing from the community.
