As part of our continued effort to innovate on Cognos Analytics with the latest technology available in every new release, Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 will be the last release of our product supporting Internet Explorer 11, Microsoft's legacy Edge browser, Ubuntu 14, Red Hat Linux (RHEL) 6 and SUSE 11.

Ubuntu 14, RHEL 6 and SUSE 11 have passed their general end of support dates. Microsoft is ending support for it's Legacy Edge browser in March 2021. Microsoft has also ended support for Internet Explorer 11 for Microsoft Teams in November 2020 and will be expanding on this as part of their product roadmap. 

We understand that some functionality including PDF drill through in Cognos Reports as well as Active Reports may require IE 11. We are working on suitable solutions and will share more information on that in an update to this blog soon.

Some organizations and users may choose to remain on these platforms and Cognos Analytics 11.1.7, our Long-term Support release, will continue to support them where possible throughout its lifecycle.

Powerplay Studio 11.0 will support Microsoft Chromium edge alongside other currently supported browsers for the product as of Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 LTSR

IBM is also investigating support for the Google Chrome and Microsoft Chromium Edge browsers for Event Studio in an upcoming release of Cognos Analytics and hope to share more information around that soon.

IBM currently has no plans to upgrade browser conformance points for Query Studio and Analysis Studio as some browsers continue to support them including IE 11 in Cognos 11.1.7 and Firefox ESR in both Cognos Analytics 11.1.7 and 11.2.
