Releasing SAP Note 3452648 - DLPAR memory operation not visible in SAP HANA

By Robin Rehrmann posted Wed May 07, 2025 03:42 AM

We recently released a SAP® Note regarding DLPAR operations in SAP HANA®.

What was the symptom?

When customers performed a DLPAR oepration on IBM® Power® machines, the increased memory size was not visible in the M_HOST_INFORMATION monitoring view. Thus, customers wondered, whether the DLPAR operation had any effect.

What was the problem?

With the release of SUSE® Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) 15 SP4 and until Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® (RHEL) 9, cgroups v1 swap accounting was enabled. However, program flow in SAP HANA required changes of the processor affinity to read per-socket NUMA information from cgroups.

What can customers do?

The problem has been fixed in SAP HANA rev. 78. Customers should update to at least that version, if they observe that a DLPAR operation is not reflected in the M_HOST_INFORMATION monitoring view.

Where can I read more?

Most recent information will be updated in SAP Note 3452648 (SAP S-UID required).
