Hi everyone,
Well it's been a heck of year and I hope you, your family and colleagues are all safe and doing ok.Normally around this time I look forward to catching up with old friends and new, sharing ideas and experiences over a few days together.Given how 2020 has unfolded though, I think we were right not to progress with a national conference. We’ll review this again next year, bearing in mind changes to many company travel approval processes, and suitability of larger gatherings etc. The NZMUG is a well-established user group with a strong active membership across multiple industries in New Zealand. There really is a wealth of knowledge out there, and having an active group as large and experienced as ours really sets us apart. It’s been great to see people using the NZMUG website forum recently to bounce ideas off other members. (A reminder to ensure your site notification settings are up to date, so you are informed on new posts there.)The site has a wealth of discussions, blog posts and a large library of files and past presentation copies etc.I see PM management and Job Plan Scheduling are popular discussion topics at the moment, and I’m following these with interest myself.I have always been impressed at how we’re all able to speak a common language around Assets, even though we work in often dramatically different industries.Bottom line is we all have things we need to look after, that need attention and regular inspections, carry compliance and health and safety aspects, manage replacement parts stock, and need to optimise how we undertake work to keep costs under control and maintain service levels etc. It’s also been good to see the various online events put together this year, hosted by both IBM (via the ANZ MUG Webinar series) and Business Partners themselves. On that note, I hope you all have good relationships with your Business Partners, and challenge them to help solve your issues and drive improvements along. That’s all for this update, just really wanted to make contact again as we head into the last month of the year.If we don’t catch up again beforehand, have a great Christmas and New Years break, and here’s to a better year in 2021.Regards,Richard Jackson.
