IBM Semeru Runtime Open and Certified Edition 3Q24 Quarterly Update Released!

We are pleased to announce the general availability of IBM® Semeru Runtimes 3Q24 quarterly updates for Open Edition and Certified Edition (non-z/OS multi-platforms). These releases are based on Eclipse OpenJ9 0.46 and OpenJDK jdk8u422-b05 (Open Edition only), jdk-11.0.24+8, jdk-17.0.12+7, jdk-21.0.4+7 and jdk-22.0.2+9 (Open Edition only) respectively.  The binaries are available on our standard distribution sites as on Aug 14, 2024. With these releases, IBM® Semeru Runtime™ Open and Certified Edition (multi-platforms) contains the latest CPU and security fixes from the OpenJDK Jul’24 updates.

The 3Q24 Quarterly update contains the following key updates:

  • IBM® Semeru Runtime™ Open and Certified Edition (multi-platforms) now contain FIPS 140-3 cryptography certified by U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and is fully supported for production use across most platforms. You can now enable the FIPS 140-3 certified cryptographic provider (OpenJCEPlusFIPS) with IBM Semeru Runtimes v11, v17 and v21 (starting with v11.0.24, v17.0.12 and v21.0.4 respectively).
