IBM Champion Spotlight: Mohammad Safir
The Bedrock of Mission-Critical Infrastructure
This month, we proudly feature Mohammad Safir, a seasoned Brand Leader at Saudi Business Machines (SBM) and a dedicated IBM Champion, whose 18 years of expertise with IBM Power Systems have made him a cornerstone of reliability and innovation in most demanding industries in the region.
The Engine of Enterprise Resilience
At the core of Mohammad’s work are IBM Power Systems, a platform he describes as “the unmatched foundation for mission-critical workloads.” With deep conviction, he explains, “What stands out is how Power Systems is engineered for enterprise resilience, especially in industries where downtime is not an option. Its integration with open technologies like Red Hat Enterprise Linux and AI workloads has transformed it from traditional infrastructure into a springboard for hybrid cloud and data-driven transformation.”
For Mohammad, advocacy comes alive on stage. He thrives on speaking at events and forums, where he can “connect directly with peers, answer questions in real-time, and create a stronger impact through storytelling and direct engagement.”
A Legacy of Trusted Solutions
What drives him to give back? “Knowledge only grows when it is shared,” he says. “Throughout my career, I’ve designed solutions for enterprise clients with regulated environments where high availability and business continuity are non-negotiable. By sharing these experiences, I turn real-world challenges into insights that help others understand the critical details of solution design.”
His approach is both practical and profound: “Becoming an IBM Champion was a natural extension of this passion. It’s less about recognition and more about creating impact, helping peers solve problems, inspiring innovation, and strengthening the global community around IBM technologies.”
Beyond Technology: The Teacher’s Heart
If not in technology, Mohammad would choose teaching. “I’ve always enjoyed simplifying complex ideas and seeing others grow. Teaching combines continuous learning with giving back.” This ethos already defines his work: “Whether presenting, guiding customers, or mentoring peers, it’s all about empowering people through knowledge.”
His advice to future Champions? “Don’t focus on the title, focus on the impact. Share what you know through forums, events, or mentorship. The rest will follow.”
Engaging the Community
Recently, Mohammad brought his expertise to two major Riyadh events:
- The IBM LinuxONE Event (Sept 2025), where he engaged customers on security, scalability, and efficiency.
- The IBM Power11 Launch (July 2025), where he demonstrated how AI-ready infrastructure delivers competitive advantage.
He looks forward to continuing these conversations at TechXchange 2025 in Orlando.
