DSPM Now Supports Automatic Discovery and Classification in Salesforce Files

We are excited to announce that IBM Guardium Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) has extended its powerful range of SaaS integrations, to include Salesforce—one of the leading customer relationship management (CRM) platforms. With this new integration, Guardium DSPM now enables autonomous discovery and classification of sensitive data across Salesforce’s files and attachments, including shadow files.

Why is Salesforce Support Significant?

Guardium DSPM's new Salesforce support makes it easier than ever to discover and manage sensitive data within Salesforce. This includes both standard Salesforce objects, as well as customer-customized objects —ensuring a comprehensive, end-to-end solution for identifying and protecting sensitive data.

Automatic Discovery and Classification of Sensitive Data

One of the key features of this integration is automatic scanning and classification of sensitive data found in Salesforce. Guardium DSPM can now seamlessly discover all attachments within Salesforce, classifying them for sensitive information such as:

  • Personal Identifiable Information (PII)

  • Financial Data

  • Medical Data

This saves organizations countless hours of manual labor and resources that would otherwise be spent tracking down and classifying the same sensitive data. By automating this process, organizations gain instant visibility into the data stored in Salesforce—helping them maintain compliance and reduce risk.

Handling Shadow Files with Ease

Salesforce is a widely-used platform, and businesses often rely on it to store various kinds of critical data. But what happens when attachments or data are hidden in "shadow files"? Guardium DSPM goes beyond just the standard file objects, and offers support for custom objects, providing the ability to detect sensitive data even in those custom objects that can contain files that might otherwise be missed. This ensures complete coverage, even for data stored in places that are typically outside of the standard scope.

Alerts to Prevent Data Sprawl

Sensitive data doesn’t stay in one place. It often moves between cloud assets or other SaaS applications. Guardium DSPM’s Salesforce integration includes the ability to alert on sensitive data that has been copied to or from Salesforce to other systems. This feature allows organizations to monitor and prevent data sprawl, ensuring sensitive data is not inadvertently exposed to other systems or shared outside the intended environment.

The Bigger Picture Matters Too

In today’s digital landscape, data protection is a priority for every organization. Salesforce stores a massive amount of sensitive customer data, and ensuring that this data is properly classified, protected, and monitored is critical to maintaining privacy, reducing risk, and adhering to compliance standards.

With Guardium DSPM’s new Salesforce support, businesses can significantly streamline their data protection strategies, reducing the manual effort typically required for data classification and management. This integration allows organizations to automate much of the sensitive data discovery process, bringing a new level of efficiency to data governance while improving security posture and privacy alike.
